Garrigill Ashgill Force Ceramic Tile

Garrigill Ashgill Force framed ceramic tile has been designed from original art by North East artist Emily Ward. All ceramic tiles are printed and hand pressed in Emily's art studio, where she hand finishes every tile.

Emily’s art framed ceramic tile portrays Ashgill Force waterfall flowing beneath a stone bridge, brought to life with bold colours and expressive textures. The waterfall, painted in soft whites and purples, takes centre stage as it plunges downward, surrounded by a spray of scattered droplets that capture its energy and motion.

The landscape around it is built up with earthy greens, browns, ochres, and purples, while the rocks and water in the foreground are layered with darker tones and highlighted specks, adding richness and depth. Above, the sky glows in shades of lavender, blue, and violet, giving the scene a dreamy, atmospheric quality.

The arching bridge, painted in muted natural hues, blends seamlessly into the surrounding hillsides, while the flicks of colour across Emily’s artwork enhance the sense of movement throughout the piece.

Garrigill Ashgill Force

Ashgill Force, near the village of Garrigill in Cumbria, is a striking waterfall tucked away in the scenic North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Dropping around 15 metres into a rocky gorge, it is framed by rugged cliffs and lush greenery, which creates a dramatic yet peaceful setting. The falls are easily accessible via a short walk from Garrigill, with a path that follows the course of the River Ashgill and offers views of smaller cascades along the way. In drier weather, it is sometimes possible to walk behind the curtain of water, adding to its appeal for photographers and nature lovers.

Ashgill Force remains a quieter alternative to some of the Lake District’s more famous waterfalls, offering visitors a tranquil spot to enjoy the power and beauty of unspoilt nature.
