Cardiff Castle ceramic pendant has been created from original artwork by North East artist Emily Ward. This lovely hanging decoration has been hand pressed locally in her studio near Newcastle.

Emily’s art ceramic pendant of Cardiff Castle presents the historic structure in a vivid, almost dreamlike style, with a burst of colour and atmosphere.

The sky forms a radiant backdrop, painted in soft, swirling shades of blue and yellow that create a glowing halo effect behind the castle, giving it a sense of warmth and importance.

Scattered across the scene are delicate speckles of colour in pinks, oranges, and whites, adding a magical, celebratory feel.

At the base, a lush spread of flowers in bright yellows and greens covers the hillside. The castle itself is rendered in warm earthy tones, with textured stone that contrasts beautifully against the vibrant surroundings, making this art gift feel both grounded in history and alive with colour.

Cardiff Castle

Cardiff Castle is a historic landmark located in the heart of Cardiff, showcasing nearly 2,000 years of layered history and architectural evolution. The site was first established as a Roman fort around 55 AD. It was later transformed by the Normans in the late 11th century with the construction of a striking stone keep and was finally reimagined in the 19th century as a lavish Gothic Revival residence.

The design reflects this rich timeline, combining defensive medieval features such as thick walls and a motte-and-bailey layout with the ornate and imaginative interiors created by architect William Burges. The result is a unique blend of Roman foundations, Norman military architecture, and Victorian Gothic artistry, making the castle both a symbol of strength and a masterpiece of decorative design.
