Lake District Art

Lake District Art

Emily Ward, a local North East artist was recently approached to commission some artwork in the Lake District.  Emily has enjoyed many walks in The Lakes and relished the opportunity to visit again and start painting.

With so much beauty  in the UK’s largest National Park it was a hard decision as to where to begin….

The Lake District

The Lake District is a region and national park within Cumbria and is a popular tourist destination, especially with walkers.

The Lake District, also referred to as The Lakes and Lakeland, contains 16 lakes along with numerous smaller tarns.  They are  set against more than 150 high peaks and the only mountains in England.

Cumbria is home to this timeless area of rugged hills, shimmering lakes and the natural beauty.  The area has inspired artists, poets such as William Wordsworth and also Beatrix Potter.

The market towns of Kendal, Ambleside and Keswick are great bases for exploring the lakes and home to some traditional inns, art galleries and craft shops.

Windermere was Emily’s first stop on her art tour around Lakeland and with her contemporary twist she has commissioned four original paintings.

Buttermere, Ullswater and Grassmere were the three other Lakes Emily chose.

Emily has used varying hues of purple in some of the paintings to capture the evening light over these striking landscapes.  The orange shades of the setting sun over Ullswater create images of an inviting  pink lake.

Lighter shades of purple have a sacred place in nature, lavender, lilac and violet flowers are considered precious whilst being delicate.

Lake District Art Gifts

Emily has introduced her range of North West Art created from her original paintings.

Choose from a range including  canvas prints , ceramic framed tiles, limited edition prints, and a set of four coasters in a gift box .

Also in the North West Art range is Ashton Memorial in Lancaster.  Ashton memorial is a Grade 1 listed building and is particularly famous for its copper dome which can be seen for miles around the city.
